This Playable Archive beginner guide is for Steam Playable Archive (App 5356470) by DarkStone Digital, published by DreadXP. It is a free, first-person found-footage horror about an anonymous whistleblower archive, a New England couple, a mysterious object found during renovations, demonic rituals, communication with the dead, and multiple timelines. Released October 26, 2026. Verified October 29, 2026 · Steam.
It is not Blue Archive and not Internet Archive. There are no Roblox codes. Play in one sitting. If you only need chapter order after you already understand the loop, jump to the walkthrough.

Steam lists Playable Archive at 30–60 minutes with no save system. You are expected to finish in one sitting. That is not flavor copy: if you Alt-F4, sleep the PC, or close Steam, you start over. Note the last tape label and the last object you touched if you must stop anyway.
The itch.io Windows zip (itch.io) is a download mirror of the same short experience, not a second campaign with checkpoints. There is no chapter select on the store page. Treat the house as one locked container, not a hub you can resume.

A 45-minute horror with no save is closer to a short film than to a Metroidvania. Do not start “just the opening.” The first rooms look like a renovation sitcom on purpose: boxes, locked doors, a couple arguing about square footage. The archive layer (detective audio, Mini DV, wall cavity) only pays off if you still have attention left.
If you came here because autocomplete mixed this title with Blue Archive student guides or archive.org DOS collections, you are on the wrong wiki. This package is Steam App 5356470 only.
The Steam description names multiple timelines. Playback inserts you into a recording; objects in the live house then disagree with what you saw five minutes ago. A mid-run quit wipes both the physical inventory and that mental map. That is why this beginner guide hammers process before spoilers.
You are dropped into the couple’s house — “the only house we can afford” in the launch footage — with renovation clutter, locked interior doors, and audio that already treats you like someone reviewing a leaked file. Do not hunt a ritual circle yet. Learn the floor, the light, and which props the game will later reuse.

There is no quest tracker. Progress is “I have seen this wall from both sides” and “this tape named a room I already walked.” The opening audio talks about locked doors, a sledgehammer, a wall that measures about three feet thick, a pulley tied to the living-room wall, and an old locked object in the cavity. Those lines are a map. If you skip them, later pickups feel random.
Early on, a voice suggests smashing a locked room with a crowbar and is told not to wreck the door. You do not start with that tool. When a crowbar does enter inventory later, it is for a specific pry — not every painted door. If you spend the first ten minutes looking for gold behind locks, you are fighting the tutorial audio.
PA-005 (October 27, 2026) added look-sensitivity sliders for inspection and item sliding, plus controller binds for flashlight and inventory open/close. It also restored missing DreadXP credits at the end. Full keyboard rebinding is still missing — if a key feels wrong, you cannot remap the whole layout yet.

| Control | What it is for | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Look sensitivity | Inspection look + item sliding feel | Sliders in Options (PA-005) |
| Flashlight | Dark corners, cavities, night rooms | Toggle exists; extra controller bind in PA-005 |
| Inventory | Crowbar, tapes, documents, slate, booklet | Open/close; extra controller bind in PA-005 |
| Item sliding | Moving planchette-like pieces and traces | Sensitivity slider; exact default Unverified |
| Key rebinding | Full custom keyboard map | Not in PA-005 — still missing |
| Save | Checkpoint | None |
Commentary play shows the flashlight available around the first two minutes: off, then on, with the player remarking it “doesn’t seem to do much.” It does plenty once rooms lose practical lighting — wall cavities, bedrooms after a tape, and any space the couple already called too dark. Toggle it when a pickup prompt is easy to miss on clutter, not only when the screen is black.
You get an inventory during the opening sweep (shown as the player notices it is “very convenient”). Later it holds the crowbar, a Mini DV cassette labeled August 8th, a tape labeled bind, a hand-bound booklet, a pediment slate, and documents about binding keys. If a prompt says use / insert, open inventory and combine with the camera or the board — do not assume a world hotspot will swallow the item automatically.
Inspection look and item sliding are separate enough that PA-005 shipped two sliders. Tracing symbols and dragging a board piece are easy to overshoot. If your first sitting feels nauseating or the piece never “catches,” stop and move those sliders before you burn twenty minutes on a board you cannot aim.
This is the stall Steam discussions already named “Camera location?” Players have a crowbar and a tape and cannot play the cassette. Media recaps also treat a camera as the primary investigation tool. The exact furniture pin for the camera remains Unverified / TBA on this wiki until a capture still is filed — do not invent a closet name.

| You have | What it is not for yet | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Crowbar | Smashing every locked door from the opening joke | Keep it for pry prompts (wall cavity / compartment) |
| Mini DV “August 8th” | A VHS living-room player that does not exist in sources | Find a camera that can insert tape |
| No camera | Optional flavor item | Resweep; it is a progression gate |
| August 8th audio already playing | Proof you “used” the tape | That is scene audio; insert is a later camera action |
A locked-room crowbar joke happens early. The crowbar pickup in one full play is around the thirteen-minute mark of that sitting, not at the joke. The Mini DV labeled August 8th is found later still — in one play, in a victim’s hand. Detective audio on that date says there must be a camera around to play “these.” Insert tape is an explicit camera action much later (after more archive objects spawn). If you try to play the cassette the second you pick it up, you are early.
After the tape, a line points to a hidden compartment in the bedroom. After a pry, an object of note in the wall cavity: a painted wood board that looks taken from the dining-room table occult layout. Those are the rooms to re-enter. Walking in circles through already-cleared hallways looking for a keypad is a waste — no keypad codes are verified in the transcripts used for this page.
Full pin discussion, without spoiling the ending: camera. Clue list: puzzles.
The store page frames the game as an archive you review with caution. In play, that means: do not skip a recording, and walk the house again after each one. Tapes are not collectible XP. They rewrite which objects exist, which lights are wrong, and which board you are allowed to touch.
| Evidence type | What to extract | Then go back to |
|---|---|---|
| Couple renovation audio | Locked doors, thick wall, pulley, sledgehammer | The wall they measured |
| Detective Lamar Robbins, Aug 8 ~8:00 p.m., KCR25014, Rochester NY | Two victims; dining table occult layout; camera needed for tapes | Dining table + search for playback |
| Mini DV August 8th | Jess hiding something next to the bed; hidden bedroom compartment | Bedroom furniture |
| Wall-cavity board | Painted wood taken from the table setup | Dining table vs cavity — both |
| Tape labeled bind + booklet + pediment slate | Playback / insert on the camera; then tracing rules | Camera, then symbols |
The August 8th detective log is a procedure: female mid-to-late 20s with a 4–5 inch neck laceration; male mid-to-late 20s already decomposing; a gap of multiple days between deaths; table materials “occult in nature” and deliberate. If you skip when the voice gets dry, you miss the camera hint and the table hint in the same minute.
When you finally insert tape on the camera, play can drop you inside the recording. That is the “multiple timelines” line on Steam becoming a verb. After you return, assume inventory and furniture may have shifted. Revisit: bedroom hide, dining table, cavity board, and any new documents. Ritual and symbol pages exist so this beginner guide does not have to name every mark: symbols, rituals.
In-archive instruction: tracing symbols calls “it”; different tracings, markings, and offerings change intent; each reach-out strengthens the connection and the danger. Every demon has keys it is bound to; keys command it, gain knowledge, and bind it to the threshold. Do not trace every mark you see in the first ten minutes because it looks cool. Wait until the sitting has given you the board, the three marks you are asked to use, and the document. Shape nicknames invented in commentary (for example an “upside-down pie”) are unofficial — this wiki will not promote them to glyph names.
Use this as a mid-run scan. Almost every wasted 30 minutes on this title is process, not a hidden combat system.
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Starting without a free hour | Steam: 30–60 minutes, no save — block the time |
| Skipping Options | PA-005 look-sensitivity sliders; flashlight / inventory controller binds |
| Treating the crowbar joke as a pickup | Pickup is later; early line is locked-door audio |
| Smashing every door | Wait for a pry prompt (cavity / compartment) |
| Playing the Mini DV on a TV that is not there | Camera insert tape — camera |
| Skipping detective audio | August 8th log names the camera and the table |
| Ignoring “next to the bed” | Jess hide beat is a location, not flavor |
| Inventing keypad codes | None verified in sourced transcripts |
| Tracing symbols immediately | Wait for bind-key instruction; danger scales with reach-out |
| Quitting to “save” | There is no save — note tape + object names only |
| Searching Blue Archive or Internet Archive wikis | Wrong product; this is App 5356470 |
| Skipping DreadXP credits | PA-005 restored them — let the sitting finish |
After every major pickup, walk the last two rooms again with the flashlight on and inventory open once. The game hides the next verb (pry, insert, trace, drag) on furniture you already “cleared.”
